Laundering at night (a poem)

Standing on a chair outside

hanging laundry in the dark

pillowcases fall like snowflakes

 into the succulents below.

Reaching down to retrieve them

I think to myself:

“drinking wine and then standing on a chair in the dark to peg out laundry

is really a little bit silly.”

(The incriminating pillowcase was quickly removed from the succulents and hung on the line.)
